Hey Beesy Bees!

Happy 1st Wednesday of November 2016 and may this entire month be full of inspiration, creativity, compassion, peace and many blessings.

I am saying this to you, because this month we start on a different fashion note. We usually slay and remain stylish, but never look at the meaning behind what we wear. Most of the time many designers place various meanings to their designs, which comes from what initially inspired them to create a specific garment and often we as the consumers don’t know them. Well, today we are placing the focus on an upcoming local business called “Dear Makena Apparel” and I would like to tell you more about this bespoke “JAHARI Skirt” that was sent to me by Karen the creative mind behind it. Jahari means exactly what I wished for you in my introductory line as well as strength, power and peacemaker. It comes from the African- American origin and if you ask me, the meaning sounds as vibrant as this beautiful printed skirt. Now, as the saying goes “You are what you eat”, but I strongly believe that you are what you wear! And how can you wear a designer piece if you don’t take time to get to know its origins? Hopefully I have made things easier for you and now you can wear your Dear Makena Apperal skirt with pride.

We welcome the summer days ahead with a smile and with so many parties on the way, the outfit prep has to begin early. However, we have to keep the big B in mind called “MR BUDGET”.  Yes Girl! You can tell me nothing about it. That’s why I decided to wear my Jahari Skirt in two ways for a day time meeting look and an evening event outfit. I wore this skirt to the Go Twinkle launch and received a number of sweet compliments (you can see more about this over on Instagram). You can rock this skirt too, by pairing it with a white crisp shirt to work or style it with something lacy to give it a romantic feel (side note: lace or the romantic trend is big this season) and chic red lip for a dinner date night.
