LOOK BOOK: RETRO

Words: Taryn Bester | Photographs: Stephen Bryan Photography| Styling: Taryn Bester

Hello Guys!

I am officially back in the groove and happy to share this brand new outfit post with you, but before I do that allow me to share some life updates with you.

Now, for those who have been reading my blog since day one probably know that I have been studying for quite a while. I have completed my final exams a few weeks ago, but my nerves are still hanging on a thread and the anticipation for the results is killing me. Have you ever experienced this? Please comment below with how you dealt with it. I personally deal with it by thriving on the fact that I have an almighty father and he will carry me through. However, right now I am also facing the challenge of unemployment, well not really because I am so busy with a few other side hustles (Will tell you more soon), but I now understand what many other South African’s face and how difficult it is to find employment.

ABOUT THIS LOOK
You might have seen it in the latest fashion magazines and definitely on Instagram too. The retro trend is here and especially with everyone rocking quirky framed sunglasses and spectacles.  In all honestly, I don’t have hope for this trend. I love it, but don’t believe in its longevity, because I feel that it’s not very natural and has too many add-ons. For this trend you need a very distinct personality which is great, but that means you need to find eyewear that suite every mood. And as you might know, eyewear is very pricey especially if you are looking for quality. However, thankfully this trend doesn’t only rely on optics, but textures, prints and because we are in winter knits will do too. That’s why; I paired a checked shirt dress, polo neck and my favourite blocked heeled ankle boot together. I was never keen on shirt dressers until I found this one, I always felt that the length is awkward and that it must be layered up. Therefore, it’s better for winter with warm knits and either a pair of stockings, ankle grazer denims or skinny jeans.
